Description

The average age of an emergency responder is steadily climbing as our industry struggles to recruit younger members, and as men and women who love the emergency services stay in and stay active longer. As we get older, responders who ignore their physical health experience health risks that more active personnel avoid. But seasoned personnel shouldn't be working out like young rookies, and rookies need to know what to expect as time catches up. An understanding of how to best maintain the aging responder's body to enhance personal healthspan and professional longevity has never been more important. In this session, we'll look at what happens to our musculo-skeletal, endocrine, and cardiovascular systems as our bodies age, and talk strategies for keeping ourselves response ready long into our careers.
